Every once in a while...
I am struck by the power of photography. You know the old cliché: "a picture is worth a thousand words"? It is really true. I challenge you to find or take pictures that are really powerful and meaningful.
What is the difference between a GOOD and a BAD photo??
How do we know? What elements make something successful or unsuccessful? What is the difference between a professional photographer's photos and an amateurs' photos? Cameras are so easily available today- so many people have them on phones or devices, computers, or own DSLR cameras, but having the equipment doesn't mean necessarily that you are going to take a great photo. What is your opinion? Post below.

Watching this video reminded me of getting my picture taken around the start of school every year. I grew up in the 80s and 90s, where these really cheap looking backgrounds were prevalent. I think about how portrait photography has changed over the years. I also remember seeing a lot of memes that are cheesy like the ones in this video, only worse. Can you think of an example? Can you tell me about how portrait photography has changed over time? Have you noticed how a good song or music video can inspire you?
"In honor of British and Colonial military lives lost during World War I, the Tower of London's long-dry moat is being filled with ceramic poppies. 886,246 of them, to be exact. Volunteers began planting the flowers, created by artist Paul Cummins, a few weeks back, with the first poppy being put in the ground by Crawford Butler, the longest serving Yeoman Warder. The last flower will be installed on November 11th, in salute to Armistice Day." -Elizabeth Griffin (Esquire Magazine) Aug 2, 2014
